Camp Wonder was awarded 501(c)3 status in the summer of 2019, and is now an entirely not for profit organization!
As such, they are working tirelessly to set up social media accounts, emails, websites, and other important platforms to make engaging with the families they serve that much easier. More details coming soon!
Camp Wonder 2020 Update
Dear Camp Wonder Families:
After careful consideration, it is with regret that the Camp Wonder Board of Directors and staff announce the cancellation of Camp Wonder 2020, for both June and July sessions, due to the coronavirus. We believe that the health and safety of all campers and staff is of the upmost importance. It is this belief that guides our decision making. Given that we work with a vulnerable population at Camp Wonder, we would be unable to safely conduct camp activities while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
In addition to concerns with camper and staff health and safety, many unforeseen challenges to conducting camp have been presented, including the following: facilities are unwilling to rent space for group events, there is restricted access to personal protection equipment and disinfecting supplies, there has been an inability to host fundraising events to secure money for scholarships, there has been an inability to schedule field trips and guest entertainment during camp, and there is the uncertainty as to whether gatherings of more than 100 people at one location will be allowed by summer.
Although we are greatly saddened by this news, the Board of Directors is investigating means to offer other social opportunities for our campers in July, assuming coronavirus conditions improve significantly. Please be on the look out for updates!
Thank you for your understanding, we wish everyone good health, and we hope to see you for Camp Wonder 2021!
Kerri, Ashley, and the entire Camp Wonder crew
